Welcome to SĆIȺNEW SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ  Elementary!

SĆIȺNEW SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ Elementary is located on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish, specifically the Esquimalt Nation and Songhees Nation. We also work very closely with Beecher Bay, SC’IANEW Nation and thank the nation for gifting our school with our name.   We recognize the First Nations people, and the territory on which we are grateful to live, learn, and play.

Hych’ka   Kleco Kleco Marsee

I am so excited to welcome you to the Sooke School District’s newest school.  Together we will be able to develop and build a strong school community.

Our school’s name was gifted to us by the SC’IANEW Nation. SĆIȺNEW (pronounced schee-ay-nuh) translates to salmon. SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ(pronounced ska-leetk-luth) translates to children. For more information on the naming of the school and to hear the pronunciation please click here.

The Sencoten spelling is SĆIȺNEW SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ and the English spelling is SC’IANEW STELITKEL.

I look forward to welcoming you to our school in September!

Sincerely,

Camille McFarlane

Principal
